Wilderness Volunteer Fire Department provides our communities with the most amazing, dedicated volunteers.
We have two (2) engines, three (3) Advanced Life Support ambulances, one (1) special response/squad unit, two (2) side-by-side all-terrain vehicles, and two (2) mobile water supply units - "Tankers".
We provide fire suppression, emergency medical services, disaster relief, and a number of other special rescue services to the citizens of Nicholas County; and surrounding districts residing within our county and neighboring Greenbrier and Fayette counties.
In addition to our emergency responses, we also provide non-emergency medical transports for patients needing transported from hospital to hospital for higher level of care. Doing so, we've been able to provide access to patients as close as Charleston, West Virginia, and as far as Miami, Florida.
We truly pride ourselves in our commitment to service, integrity, and honor, as well as providing the highest level of protection possible to our citizens, and the highest standard of care for all of our patients.
WVFD members are constantly training in order to better protect and serve our community and state. Currently, we have members certified in hazardous materials, rope rescue, vehicle and machinery rescue, Dive Rescue, as well as a host of Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, and other EMS providers.
